PB & Banana sandwiches

The other day I had one of my favorites, a peanut butter and banana sandwich on fresh wheat bread. My Tica mom commented that is a strange food for the Costa Rican people. I said it is an American food isn't it? She said it is. She said that some other American missionaries who lived here before used to eat them so she had seen somebody eating them before. I enjoyed it alot. And no I didn't convince her to try it...

Hey Carol,
When I read this, I thought it was hilarious because just last week I heard from a friend that is Argentina and he was telling me about making his friend a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He said his friend had never had one because peanut butter was such a rare thing there.

It's interesting how things that are so normal for us in America are such a rare/different thing for people in other cultures.
