The joy of a Bible

A Guatemalan friend commented to me the other day that he would like a bilingual Bible in Spanish and English.  He said do you think any of your friends who come to visit could bring me one from the US?  I paused and thought for a minute and then I said I can do better than that. I can give you one right now.  I had one that I had been saving for just the right time to give to someone.  So I gave it to my friend.  He was so excited!  He started reading it immediately!

Ted E's new shirt

Ted E enjoyed shopping in Antigua.  While we were there I bought a new shirt for him. He had to have one that says Guatemala.  The shop vendors all loved him.

It's a small world!

I was at the Antigua market with the group from Oklahoma.  We had about 10 minutes more at the market before we finished our shopping and returned to the city.  A pastor friend had written me and said that his daughter would be in Guatemala during Spring Break.  Well...guess who I saw at the Antigua Market??  Yes, his daughter, Marci.  She was at the market with the team she was working with.  I don't know who was more surprised, she or I.  It was so neat to see how God worked that out for us to see each other.  It was a neat God meeting...We couldn't have planned the timing any better!

Kitty's birthday

In mid March Kitty celebrated her sixth birthday.  She received a birthday present from a friend and it was what every cat wants-cat treats!

Oklahoma team

From March 12th until March 19, 2011, I had the pleasure of working with a mission team from Oklahoma.  We did alot in the short time they were here.  They made lots of contacts, enjoyed shopping in Antigua, enjoyed good meals at the hotel and experienced alot of different things.  It was a group comprised of high students, college students and 4 adults.  Most of them played tennis at some level and we were able to go to a tennis club three times and they played Guatemalans versus Gringos tennis.  It was such a blessing to see God allowing them to use their natural talents, abilities and likes to minister to others.  It was a good week!

5k at CAG

This past Saturday I had the opportunity to participate in a 5K run which was a fundraiser for a local Christian school in Guatemala.  It was an enjoyable morning.  I have found out that I feel accomplished after completing a 5K.  The doggies were extra security for us as we walked...As an extra bonus I was able to enjoy brownies and ice cream later after the run.

Ted E in Guatemala

Ted E arrived safely in Guatemala with me.  Today Ted E watched a Guatemalan lady, Lucilla, make tortillas.  Tortillas are a favorite food to eat with meals.  Also Ted E found the comfortable chair to sit in with Winnie the Pooh.  It's especially nice when Winnie says things like "I've got a rumbly tummy" or "You're my friend".
