A trip to the zoo

The other day the "peanut butter jelly" gang went to the zoo here in Guatemala City. It was also school kid day which made it more enjoyable. It was alot of fun, we had a nice time. I especially like the picture that looks like the girafee is coming out of my head!

Kitty cat

I have a 5 year old cat, her name is Kitty. I got her from another family who had to leave Guatemala. She is still getting used to the apartment but she is doing good. At her previous house there were 3 kids so I'm sure the peace and quiet here is alot different. However there are alot of kids voices she can hear outside.

Seminary class

The seminary class which I was teaching finished on Friday with the in class stuff. Now they have a few assignments to do at their house and they will email to me. Following Guatemalan cultural tradition they wanted to have a lunch after the class the celebrate. So one of the caretakers at the seminary made a lunch for us. It was a good lunch, meat-steak, beans, onions, guacamole, toasted tortillas and ice cream for dessert! It has to be a good meal if you end it with ice cream!
It was a good week. There were 5 students in the class and I can truly say that God worked it all for me with the language, teaching and all!

Seminary

This week I have the pleasure of teaching a class at the Baptist Seminary. It's a class on Interpersonal Communication. Thanks to all of you who have been praying for me about this endeavor! For the first day I had the students hold up namecards and I took their photo so I could remember their names. I said they may think I'm crazy for doing it but it's a good way to remember and learn their names.

Moving Day

After a very nice stay in the house of missionaries who were in the states for a while I moved to an apartment upon their return. It's a nice apartment and I'm enjoying it. I had some good helpers who helped me as you can see from the pictures. With the variety of items from different countries and different parts of Guatemala one person commented that it seems like I have lived here a lot longer than I have. I just realized that all the pictures were taken after they had a good lunch of Pollo Campero and were resting in the chairs they had carried in the apartment. They worked hard.

Bible reading cat

What do you think? I think it looks like the cat (Sombra) is trying to read the Bible.

March prayer requests

THE NICODEMUS PROJECT, GUATEMALA CITY

Change is all around us…Just when you think you have things figured out something changes whether it is to the new and improved version or the updated version, etc.. After hearing recently of several friends who are facing employment changes I thought wow their life is changing, their circumstances are changing. But I was reminded to be thankful that we as Christians serve the God who doesn’t change. Malachi 3:6 says “For I, the Lord, do not change..” He is the one constant that we can depend upon in this world of change. A lot of times companies will say the new and improved version, sometimes that is true and sometimes not. But rest assured that we serve the God who is the top of the line; He doesn’t need to be new and improved because He is the perfection.

Monday March 1: The Monday night group that meets at the Hardeman house will meet tonight to evaluate what they want to do whether they want to continue meeting on Monday nights and what they want to study. Pray that they would be able to come to a consensus of a decisions looking all the factors involved. They will meet at 6 pm EST.

Tuesday March 2: Tomorrow Helen Hardeman’s friends from Curves Gym want to have a welcome back to Guatemala for her. While she was in the states she communicated with many of them through email, they expressed concern for the loss of her mom and grandbaby Aiden. Pray that the Lord will open many opportunities for Helen to have a positive Christian witness to them. Pray that during the breakfast Helen would be able to share with them how the Lord gives peace and comfort in the midst of loss since several of them have also experienced significant loss or problems in their life.

Sunday March 7: Impacto Biblico Church has gone through a period of discouragement. With several families out of the country last year, it has been hard for them to make their budget and pay the rental fees for the church building. Saturday March 20: Just before returning to Guatemala, the Lord laid it on Helen Hardeman’s heart to pray for us to see 100 souls saved among the Nicodemus people this year. What a totally unattainable goal unless the Lord works in miraculous ways! Oh, but that is what He specializes in. Will you join us in praying for 100 conversions this year and seeing many of them added to Impacto Biblico?

Pray that the Nicodemus people’s hearts would be open to God and His faithfulness. Thank God that in the midst of a changing world, He is the faithful one in whom we can depend.
