Christmas Eve
On Christmas Eve we enjoyed a good meal of steak and baked potato. I enjoyed cooking the steaks on the gas grill and the potatoes cooked for several hours so they were good. After enjoying a good meal we opened a few presents before going to the 11 pm Christmas Eve service at Quaker Gap Baptist Church.
Christmas snow
It was a great treat to have snow on Christmas Day! It started snowing around midday and continued into the evening. It was so pretty. I enjoyed watching it snow and then on Sunday I enjoyed getting out and shoveling the snow and playing in the snow with the doggies.

UNC-Texas basketball game
One of my favorite things to do is watching college basketball especially the UNC Tarheels. Last Saturday Kim and I went to the UNC-Texas basketball game. It was a good game even though it would have been much better if UNC would have won instead of loosing by 2 points. Kim even gave up her preferred color of Wake Forest gold and black to wear a Carolina shirt.
White sand beaches
The beaches in Florida were really pretty with the white sand. The white sand reminded me of beaches in Mozambique. I thought the white sand looked like snow.
Donna the helper
Donna is a friend of mine who has enjoyed wearing the Guatemalan indigenous clothing for several church presentations which I have done on Guatemala. She has had a good time of being the "Vanna White of clothing".
Mission team to Guatemala
Members of Zeddie's church will be going to Guatemala on a mission trip in 2011. I enjoyed meeting the team members and sharing with them some about Guatemala. I hope I was able to encourage them and give them good information about Guatemala.
Campers on Mission
While in Florida we had the opportunity to attend a Christmas potluck lunch with the Campers on Mission group. I had heard of Campers on Mission but it was nice to meet some "real live Campers" and hear more about their ministry. They were a pleasant group of people and it was a joy to visit with them. There were about 30 in attendance at the lunch.
Zeddie the praying lady
Recently mom and I had the privilege to meet Zeddie. Zeddie is an 80ish year old lady who lives in Florida. She has prayed for me since I first went to Mozambique in 2004. We have emailed and corresponded since then but we had never met in person until this trip. It was a great blessing to meet her and it felt like I was meeting family. We had a great time visiting her and seeing a beautiful part of Florida.

Quaker Gap Baptist Church
I had the opportunity to speak at Quaker Gap Baptist Church. It was good to see alot of people who I hadn't seen in a while. Donna enjoyed being the model for the indigenous Guatemalan clothing. She was so proud to help me out by modeling the clothing. Also there is a good picture of Cindi, Donna and Kim dressed in their Christmas colors.
Parents Night Out
I had the opportunity to help my sister at a Parent's Night Out at her school. I had the good jobs, I was the pizza delivery person and the photographer. The kids were really behaved and it was an enjoyable evening. The kids enjoyed playing games and doing lots of other fun things.
Walnut Cove Christmas Parade
This past Saturday I was able to enjoy going to the Walnut Cove Christmas parade. It was a fun time. It wasn't real cold so that was nice but I did have my layers of clothes on. Before the parade started I was able to enjoy a corn dog and curly fries. The parade felt like home when the sewer truck and tractor came through the parade line. I enjoy going to the parades when it has a hometown smalltown feeling. Plus it's nice to see people you know in the parade.

Toy store
The other night I had the opportunity to volunteer at the PMBA (Baptist Association) Toy store. This is a ministry which gives toys and stocking stuffers to families. It is a great program based on needs of the families. I helped wrap presents. Wrapping presents is not usually one of my specialities, but, then I realized that the people receiving the gifts were just glad to have gifts for their children. One young mom commented that she didn't know how to wrap presents. It made me wonder if she had never had presents to put under the Christmas tree or if no one had ever taught her. It was a good reminder of how blessed I am and all that I have.
Danbury Baptist Church
This past Wednesday night I had the pleasure of speaking at Danbury Baptist Church in Stokes County. It is a small rural church located in a beautiful area. I always enjoy visiting with the people at the church, they are so interested in missions and ministry.

Snow!
I was so excited on Saturday when it started snowing. It was a really pretty snow accumulating to about 2 inches. It made for the perfect atmosphere for the King Christmas parade. I enjoyed going to the parade since I haven't seen it in several years.
