Toy store
The other night I had the opportunity to volunteer at the PMBA (Baptist Association) Toy store. This is a ministry which gives toys and stocking stuffers to families. It is a great program based on needs of the families. I helped wrap presents. Wrapping presents is not usually one of my specialities, but, then I realized that the people receiving the gifts were just glad to have gifts for their children. One young mom commented that she didn't know how to wrap presents. It made me wonder if she had never had presents to put under the Christmas tree or if no one had ever taught her. It was a good reminder of how blessed I am and all that I have.
Danbury Baptist Church
This past Wednesday night I had the pleasure of speaking at Danbury Baptist Church in Stokes County. It is a small rural church located in a beautiful area. I always enjoy visiting with the people at the church, they are so interested in missions and ministry.

Snow!
I was so excited on Saturday when it started snowing. It was a really pretty snow accumulating to about 2 inches. It made for the perfect atmosphere for the King Christmas parade. I enjoyed going to the parade since I haven't seen it in several years.
Speaking at Fork Baptist Church
Fork Baptist Church in Davie County is the church that Kim and I grew up in. Most of the people from there remember me as the curly haired, shy little girl. Last Wednesday night I had the privilege to return there and share with them about my missionary work in Guatemala. It was a great time to see people who I hadn't seen in a long time!
Meeting friends at Chick fil A
The other day I had the opportunity to eat at one of my favorite places, Chick fil A. Plus I had the extra blessing of eating with friends. Meaghan is a 6 year old who is really interested in missions and my life in Guatemala. She even made me the pillow which you can see in the picture. It was an enjoyable time with Meaghan, her mom and sister.

Jasper
This is a picture of Carol and Jasper. Jasper was her cat for about a year and a half before he moved to her mom and dad's house. He has been in the family for about 10 years. This past Friday we had to make the difficult but correct decision to have him put to sleep. It was a sad day. He had an aggressive brain tumor which attacked him quickly. He was a good cat and loved to sleep on laps. Even though it was sad I am so thankful that God allowed me to be here this past week with him and with my family.
Where have I been???
For those faithful readers of my blog I apologize for not posting anything recently...I will do better. I am in North Carolina for a 3 month furlough. I arrived here on Monday November 22nd. I had a good day of travels. It has been good to see friends who I haven't seen in a while. I left my cat in the good hands of missionary friends for the three months while I'm in North Carolina. Thanks for reading!
